The Honda MDX also known as Acura MDX is a mid-size luxury crossover Sport Utility Vehicle produced by the Japanese automaker company Acura since the model year 2001. The MDX is the first crossover Sport Utility Vehicle to have a third row seating facility. It has reference to the Honda Pilot. The alpha numeric moniker stands for the "Multi-Dimentional luxury". It is built by Honda's Honda Manufacturing Ltd. of Canada. Honda MDX was introduced in the late 2000 as a 2001 year model, replacing the Isuzu Trooper based on the slow-selling U.S. made only body on frame SLX. In Japan, the MDX filled a gap when the Honda Horizon was discontinued in 1999. The Honda MDX went on sale in 2003 in Japan and Australia.
